Prison/Jail Movies and Tv Shows

“Cook County Jail movie- lights, camera but too much action, cut!”

Movies and tv shows are, for the most part, very unrealistic and misleading. For example, a car does not explode after a collision or accident and a Desert-Eagle or 357 Magnum cannot be fired without tremendous recoil, especially if holded in one hand. That being said, these exaggerations do offer the best TV & Movies entertainment.

Here's a list of the best movies/tv shows (jail or prison oriented) worth to be checked out:

Here are the answers for the article “Cook County Jail movie- lights, camera but too much action, cut!”

If you don't know what this is article is about, visit and read the Cook county jail movie article to see how many movie relations you can decipher and read the following paragraph for the correct answers.

First paragraph had 2 movie references

"The Last Action Hero with Arnold Schwarzenegger"

“Gladiator with Russel Crowe"

"Spartacus Blood and Sand with Andy Whitfield" is not a movie but a series that aired on HBO in early January 2010 and it’s highly recommended. A true 10 out of 10 that incorporate a mixture od the movie “300” and the HBO mini-series “Rome” but 10 times better in visual quality.
Spartacus Blood and Sand with Andy Whitfield contains nudity, lots of blood and gore, violence, course language and a very anticipated 2nd season! Although there is a movie with the same title released on October 7 1960 with the same name (Starring Kirk Douglas, Laurence Olivier and Jean Simmons), the one from the article was meant for the 2010 version.

The second paragraph had 3 movie references

("3 Six Mafia" by "Sippin' on Some Syrup") is not a movie but a RAP/HIPHOP song by the group 3 six mafia.

"Beerfest with Will Forte"

"Grand Theft Auto Vice City" is not a movie but a video game released in early 2000 from Rockstar which is available for all major consoles and portable devices

"Stephen King's Christine"

"Four Rooms with Quentin Tarantino"

The third paragraph had 3 movie references

"Woody Allen" and "Alfred Hitchcock" are not movies but producers, although in the 80’s Alfred Hitchcock did have his own show called “Alfred Hitchcock Presents”.

"Escape From Alcatraz with Clint Eastwood".

"Vantage Point with Dennis Quaid".

"Greenmile with Tom Hanks"

"John Coffey" and "Michael Clarke Duncan" are not movies but technically the same person. Michael Clarke Duncan is the actor who played the role of John Coffey, the innocent inmate who gets....... in the “Greenmile”

The fourth paragraph had 10 movie references

"Saturday Night Fever with John Travolta"

"Staying Alive with the Beegees" is a very tricky one. This very popular song by the Beegees in the 70's and 80’s is used in the movie "Saturday Night Fever with John Travolta" but "Staying Alive” is also the name of the sequel to the movie "Saturday Night Fever with John Travolta". Nonetheless was not intended to be referred as a movie in the article.

"The Experiment with Adrien Brody"!

"Back To The Future (the first or third one) with Michael J. Fox".

Back to the future is intended as a movie reference but want to explain why I did specify the “the first or third one” in the article. For people who are unfamiliar with this movie series, the name of this movie is misleading and the title only works for the second movie “Back to the future 2”. That’s because in the first movie and third movie, Marty McFly (Michael J Fox) and Dr. Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd) actually goes back in the past. The first one to make sure that Marty McFly’s dad fall in love with his mom so that he doesn’t disappear and become non-existent in the present and the third took place in a western-cowboy setting. Only in the second movie is relevant to the title since they actually go to the future.

"60 Seconds with Nicholas Cage"

"Police Academy 5: Assignment Miami Beach"

"Sherlock Holmes"

"The Pink Panther"

"Inspector Gadget"

"Reno 911 Miami"

"Ace Ventura Pet Detective"

The fifth paragraph had 10 movie references

"Silence Of The Lambs with Anthony Hopkins"

"Scarface with Tony Montana"

"Armored with Laurence Fishburne"

"T-1000 from Terminator 2: Judgment Day"

"Seven with Brad Pit and Morgan Freeman"

"The Fugitive with Harrison Ford"

"The Blues Brothers with John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd"

"Fight Club with Edward Norton"

"Training Day with Denzel Washington".

"Click with Adam Sandler"

The sixth paragraph had 2 movie references

Al Capone, Richard Speck, Frank Nitti, Jeff Ford, Tony Accardo, Larry Hover and John Wayne Gacy may had movies related to them but were not intended to be represented that way in the article. They all are real-life inmates who were incarcerated inside the Cook County Jail.

“Godfathers the like of Don Vito Corleone”

"Agent Smith form the Matrix Revolutions"

The seventh paragraph had 2 movie references

"Phenomenon with John Travolta"

"Show me the money!" like "Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire

Quick note from the article: LeVar Burton (also well known for his role in StarTrek The Next Generation) played the role of Kunta Kinte in the tv series Roots, the best ever of the genre. “Amistad” starring Djimon Hounsou, Matthew McConaughey and Anthony Hopkins is also an excellent movie from the genre.

The eighth paragraph had 1 movie reference

"Jay And Silent Bob Strikes Back"

The ninth paragraph had no movie reference

The tenth paragraph had 9 movie references

"Cousin Vinny with Joe Pesci"

"The Adams Family"

"Benny & Joon"

"Austin Powers"

"Mrs. Doubtfire"

"Bruce Almighty"

"The Six Sense of Haley Joel Osment and Bruce Willis"

"Weekend At Bernie's with Andrew McCarthy"

"The Planet Of The Apes" with "Charlton Heston" or "Mark Wahlberg"!

"Charlton Heston” or "Mark Wahlberg” are not the same person. “Planet of the Apes” was a big blockbuster and a well marketed movies and tv series in the 60’s all the way through the 80’s.  The ideas in the movie are based on the novel La planète des singes by Pierre Boulle which was published in 1963. Charlton Heston played in the original 2 first movies (which were the best of the 5 released between 1968-1973). I could tell you why he didn’t play in the last 3 but it would be too much of a spoiler!

Actor Mark Wahlberg played in the 2001 remake which was very well done but had a vey surprising (very different ending from the original 1968 movie) conclusion which I’m very anxious to see the sequel! But I guess I will have to wait many more years since a new Planet of the Apes movie entitled “Rise of the Apes” is set to be release on June 24 2011 but will be a prequel to all the movies from the franchise.
